There were several athletes who competed in the Novartis 10K and 2 Mile runs in Lincoln on April 12th. Eric Rasmussen ran away with the win in the 10K in 32:22. Cory Logsdon finished 6th in 33:40. Cheto Cerda cracked the top-ten, finishing 9th in 34:25. Pierce Tallichet made his Team Nebraska debut, finishing 12th overall in 35:11. David Bohlken and Matt Seiler rounded out the top-15 in 13th (35:37) and 15th (36:22), respectively. Nate Stack wasn’t far behind in 16th place with a time of 36:41, while Kelly Crawford finished 18th overall and 1st masters male in 36:57. Blake Wageman was Team Nebraska’s lone female in the 10k, where she finished as the 7th female in 42:28 as her tune-up for the Salt Lake City Marathon next weekend.
In the Novartis Two Mile, York Thomas finished 2nd overall in 11:30. The Team Nebraska women went 1-2 in the two mile, with Megan Thomas and Barb Wehde finishing in 12:10 and 13:05, respectively.
Shannon Mauser-Suing had to battle significant winds on Saturday at the Eisenhower Marathon in Abilene, KS. Shannon’s time of 3:02:34 was good enough to win by several minutes over the next female runner.
Ashley Miller dominated the 3000 meter run at the Nebraska Quad on April 12th. She won in 10:00.85. Eric Lund finished 2nd in the 400 meter hurdles in 51.27.
Also dealing with less than ideal weather conditions, Meghan Schneider competed in the Horsetooth Half Marathon in Fort Collins, CO, on April 13th, where she ran in snow, sleet, and winds. She didn’t let the elements and challenging course get the best of her, since she finished as the 12th overall female in 1:35:53.
