Ashley Miller won the 3,000 meter run at the Prairie Wolf Invite on Friday night, with a dominating time of 9:47.83. Her time breaks the previous Team Nebraska 3,000 meter track record of 9:53.17, set by Suzanne Weeder Einspahr on January 13, 2006.
The Wayne State College Alumni Open was held Saturday in Wayne, NE. Several Team Nebraska athletes competed in the meet. Colin Morrissey finished 3rd in the mile in 4:29.15. Colin later went on to finish 12th in the 800 in 2:06.18. York Thomas finished 11th in the mile, with a time of 4:42.33. Peter Falcon was next in a time of 4:45.91. Peter then finished 7th in the 1000 meter run, crossing the line in 2:49.66. Matt Heesch finished 17th in the mile, with a time of 4:53.37. Cheto Cerda also competed in the 1000 meter run, finishing 6th in 2:46.59. For the women, Megan Thomas and Christina Elder competed in the mile. Megan won the mile, with a time of 5:20.53 while Christina finished in 7:32.56.
Team Nebraska had a few athletes compete in the 21st Annual No Frills Racing Series Race No. 2 held on Saturday. Justin Mollak finished 2nd overall in the 5-mile race, finishing with a time of 26:44. Casey Kear finished 3rd with a time of 28:03. David Eads finished 32nd overall in 33:51. Natalie Jetensky was the 2nd overall female in a quick time of 32:31. Barb Wehde finished as the 6th female overall, with a time of 35:36. Anne Medeiros finished as the 22nd overall female in 47:35.
